MIT School of Telecom Management (MITSOT) had organized its event “CONNECT To CORPORATE 2017” for the students of batch 2016-18 and 2017-19 on 6th and 7th October 2017. Under this title 3 events were organized. The HR-Summit was organized on 6th October 2017. The Business Quiz and event Innovision happened on 7th October 2017.The HR-Summit consisted of Management games, Article Writing Competition and Panel discussions. The theme for HR-Summit was ‘Employability Skills’.  The main event that is panel discussions happened at Saturday at Sant Dnyaneshwar Hall, MIT Campus Kothrud.The Summit started with world peace prayer which was followed by felicitation of key note speaker and participants of panel discussion. Dr. Milind Pande (Project Director- MITSOT) felicitated all the guests with token of appreciation and gave introductory speech. In his speech Dr. Pande predominantly emphasised on journey of MITSOT and informed the guests about various rankings and milestones achieved by the MITSOT.  He referred the great management philosopher Peter Drucker and mentioned that the key skill for 21st century is learning new skills. He also spoke about impact of digitalization and taken an overview of employment opportunities and employability skills required. His speech was followed by key note address. Mr. Prashant Karmalkar (MD-Circular Angle) in his key note addressed certain aspects related to ‘Employability Skills’ and mentioned that patience is the key to achieve remarkable success. According to him employability is an attitude to learn and not package that you earn. He offered certain tips to the audience in order to enhance employability skills. Some of those tips are learning something new is key, being relevant is important, avoid peer pressure, finding common interests and creating win-win scenarios. The key note speech was followed by panel discussion.The panel discussion was initiated and moderated by Mr. Abhijeet Parlikar (Sr. General Manager – HR – John Deere India Pvt. Ltd). The topic of the discussion was ‘Corporate Wish List to Institute To-Do List’. Mr. Paralikar initiated the discussion by providing insights from the E&Y report titled ‘Vision 2030’ as the report listed the missing skills which also resulted into shrinkage of window of opportunities. The other panellists were Mr. Babar Mian (Head – HR – PAMAC Group), Ms. Srishti Sinha (Deputy Manager – Reliance Jio Infocom Pvt. Ltd.) Ms. Bernadine Swamy (HR Director – Finance Plus India) and Mr. Prashant Karmalka (MD-Circular Angle). The panellist indicated mutual consensuses on certain aspects. These aspects are having awareness about deploying conceptual knowledge to the contextual problems- e.g. a candidate applying for the HR executive position must know how to conduct interview along with how to face the interview. Further, the area of concern which was emphasised is dissonance between expectations of corporate and expectations of students. The probable solution to this could be enhancing adaptability, job-knowledge, co-ordination and openness to learn among students. Further the panel proposed that the academia may deploy blended learning model that consists of experiential learning, lengthy internships. The panel concluded that the blended learning model will create VALUE and VISIBILITY for both Industry and Academia.

After the first panel discussion winners of article writing competition Ruchi Verma, Salma Khan, Pranita Kolhapure and Shubham Banthiya presented their articles.The presentations were followed by second panel discussion emphasising on ‘Sector Specific Employability Skills’. Before starting the discussion each panellist interacted with a group of students in order to gain the insights for the discussion. It was moderated by Mrs. Renuka Krishna (HR-Consultant). The panelists were Ms. Rubi Baksi (HR Executive-Harbinger Group), Mr. Chander Thapar (General VP- HR Hiranandani), Mr. Ajit Thakur (Head HR- Hyundai Construction Equipment India Pvt. Ltd.), Ms. Rakhi Deshpande (Director-Talent Acquisition- Xoriant Solutions Pvt. Ltd.) and Mr. Amol Neve (MITSOT Alumnus) from Wipro. The highlights of the panel discussion are internship plays key role in enhancing employability; skills are existing-will to deploy them is key; Clarity, Confidence and Communication are the 3C’s industries look for and Passion and Attitude are the elements that differentiate the candidates.The Senior- Junior students of HR specialization and HR faculty Dr.Neerja Aswale, Ms. Sharayu Patil & Placement Head Ms.Shobana Anand had taken commendable efforts for the event.A business quiz was organized in the morning on 7th October 2017. Total 45 teams (2 participants each) were participated for the preliminary round of business quiz. It was an online quiz consisting of multiple choice questions. 8 teams were selected for the second round out of which four teams competed with each other in the finals. This quiz was prepared and hosted by Prof. Shashank Divekar.      The event Innovision 2017 was held on 7th October 2017, with combination of techno-managerial symposium and was conducted to bring technology and management skill sets together on one platform. The event started at 2.00pm on 7th October itself. The event started with passing on the baton where Usha Kumari the senor batch student passed it on to the junior batch. This was followed by the panel discussion on theme ‘Digital Empowerment’. Panel speakers Mr. Vijay Sogodekar, Vice President at Reliance Jio; Mr. Shrikant Hatekar Technical Delivery Manager at British Telecom; Mr. Prasad Naik, emphasied on new opportunities in the field and impact of digital technology on our daily life. The panelists mentioned that the means of getting the information are changed. The digitalization has impacted almost every sector including the academic sector. Therefore, capturing, analyzing and publishing information has become a need of an hour. Further, there are challenges exists as the GPS denied contexts like army movement requires altogether different solution. There were competitions like Scavenger Hunt, Box Cricket, Need for Speed, Movie Mania, Track Mania and Slow Bike Racing in which 118 contestants participated. This was a platform for the participants where they were able to show their intellectual prowess and out of the box creativity. Participants and winners of all the events got cash prices, goodies and vouchers.Dr. Nutan Nigade and the senior-junior students of system specialization had taken special efforts to make Innovision a great success.
