MIT School of Telecom Management (MITSOT) is committed towards creating the finest Telecom and Management Professionals. At MITSOT we are working towards enhancing knowledge and skills in the efficient transfer of latest trends in Telecom and Management field with infrastructure of international standards. Enduring the tradition, MITSOT is proud to host its sixth “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2012” along with The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) on Thursday, 17th May 2012 at Saint Dnyaneshwara Hall, MIT Campus Pune.

IETE is India’s leading recognized professional society devoted to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication & IT. The Institution provides leadership in Scientific and Technical areas of direct importance to the national development and economy. Government of India has recognized IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and also notified as an educational Institution of national eminence.

Focus :

Gender equality is a basic human right enshrined in the UN Charter. ITU Council proposed that we focus our efforts this year on women and girls, using the power of ICTs to provide new digital opportunities to end discrimination and empower the female half of the world’s population to achieve their rightful place as equals in the world. And this effort with ICTs must begin not only from the cradle, but from antenatal health care, reaching out to the remotest communities – with every mother, every girl and every woman guaranteed her birthright.

Theme 2012 :

The theme of this year’s WTISD, “Women and Girls in ICT”, aims to ensure that the vulnerable female half of the world’s population will march forward as equals.

This is an opportunity, a forum for industry and academia to shed light on key issues, exchange thoughts and ideas on emerging businesses and is structured as a half day conference featuring speakers on “Women and Girls in ICT”. Eminent Personalities from the industry would address and share their views about the scope of ICT in the Indian context.

The concluding session would be to take stock of what could be the action plan and the opportunity for Industry and Academia to work together and setting an agenda.

A well known Management Guru of Indian Management Education Prof. Sharu Rangnekar visited MITSOT on the 27th March, 2012. Prof. Sharu Rangnekar showed his expertise with the students on various management topics. He focused on developing the Soft-Skills of the future managers.

According to him, apart from hard skills, the success of a manager depends on the soft skills leading to collaboration, co-operation and co-ordination. Teaching of Soft Skills is difficult because they are learnt by the simple but difficult process of “Talking less, listening more, and observing constantly.”
