As a part of celebration of Digital India Week, MITSOT Pune and National Blind Federation (NBF), Pune jointly organized Digital India Awareness Program for Blind at NBF Regional Office, Nehru Stadium, Swargate, Pune.
Dr. Milind Pande Sir, Project Director, MITSOT was invited as the Chief Guest along with the faculty members and staff of MITSOT Pune.On behalf of MITSOT Pune, Dr. Milind Pande donated two computer Systems to the Federation. Mr. Shivane, President, NBF Pune highlighted the various achievements and recent developments of the members and its association in his opening speech. He thanked and expressed his gratitude.
Some of the members of National Blind Federation (NBF) shared their success stories. It was an inspiring experience for the students as well as staff members of MITSOT. Dr. Milind Pande reciprocated and appreciated achievements of members who have overcome various challenges and are today working as successful bankers, operators etc. He encouraged and pledged support to help all the blind people of the federation in various activities like website designing, training for various competitive examinations, etc. He also updated them on various vital apps related to Healthcare, Education, Banking, and Governance etc.
The use of Technology and applications has become increasingly critical to the visually impaired people. Applications (Apps) provide tools of independence for the blind and aid in carrying out daily activities. MITSOT Students helped blind members to discover benefits of all these apps.
Mr. Amogh Prabhu, Mr. Ashwani Raj and other students of MITSOT gave presentations and hands-on training to all the blind members on important apps like Scan Life Barcode and QR Reader, Talk Back, Magnify, Message Ease Keyboard, Classic text to speech engine, Walk Talky, etc. The response was very encouraging and appreciated by all the members.
