The Digital India programme is a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. And the objective of Digital India Week is to “Inform, Educate & Engage”.
Digital India Campaign has come out with innovative ideas and practical solutions to realize Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a digital India. His vision is to empower every citizen with access to digital services, knowledge and information.
As a part of promoting Digital India awareness campaign, MIT Pune’s MIT School of Telecom Management (MITSOT) organized various events from 7th of July to 10th of July. The whole motive behind this was to create awareness about “Digital India” and participate as an active partner. As a part of celebration of digital India week, students of MITSOT spread awareness in many colleges across Pune City on Cyber Hygiene & Cyber Security. Our Student Managers delivered presentations on the same by talking about the do’s & don’ts while using electronic devices and discussed many types of Cyber crime like Hacking, Card Fraud, Phishing, Spoofing, Software Piracy, Cyber Stalking etc.
Network outages, data compromised by hackers, computer viruses and other incidents affect our lives in ways that range from inconvenience to life threatening situations. As the number of mobile users, digital applications and data network has increased, so has the risks and security issues and the opportunities for data misuse/ exploitation.
They also interacted with the faculty and students by discussing the problems they face and guided them at basic level. They also informed and updated them about laws and punishments regarding various types of cybercrime and conducted a survey regarding the same.

Shri Narendra Modi, our Prime Minsiter wants to create a digital India that would use technology to improve the country’s healthcare systems, education and banking. When PM kick started Digital India Week on 1st July from Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, he laid emphasis on National e- governance plan. Even though India is known as a powerhouse of software, the availability of electronic government services to citizens is still comparatively low. The vision of Digital India aims to transform the country into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
