MIT Pune’s MIT School of Telecom and Management (MITSOT) in association withITU APT Foundation and Broadband India Forum, recently organized ‘TELETALK2016’ on 4th March 2016 at Swami Vivekanand Hall, MIT Campus, Pune. With the Theme of the year- “Digital India: The Way Forward”, TELETALK 2016 ascertained to be one of the biggest event in Telecom Space Western India.
This one-day Conference examined the WAY FORWARD for the ambitious “Digital India” programme, how Industry can partner in its progress and ensure it reaches its planned goal. The expert Panelists discussed topical subjects such as New Opportunities for the Telecom sector arising from Big Data, E-Commerce, Digital Wallets etc. Another major issue that was discussedwas with respect to the challenges related to “Call Drop” and what can be the possible solutions.
Being the Brand Ambassodar for Digital India, TELETALK 2016organized by MITSOT gained overwhelming response from the Corporate world. The Prestigious Conference was attended by the Presidents, PP’s, CIO, COO, CTOs of top companies Deloitte, Vodafone,IBM, Xebec Communications,Reliance Communications, EQ Technologies, Sigma OSS System India,M Rupee, Tranzlease Holdings, Atom X Corporation, Idea Cellular Ltd, Airtel, Indus Towers & ICICI Bank.
The Inaugural Ceremony Commenced with introduction & Objectives of Digital India by Ms. Shobana Anand, Head- Corporate Relations. She welcomed the gathering.
Mr. Hemant Joshi, Telecom Partner, Deloitte Pune in his Theme address convinced the audience about the importance of Digital Bharat. Mr.Rustom Taraporevala was the Special Guest of Honour. He said “This digital transformation is exciting and unavoidable. So people not comfortable with a smart phone have to get used to it”. The Chief Guest for the function was Mr.Sanjay Bhargava, Technology Solution Leder, IBM. He said “The Digital India programme as envisioned by Government of India is centered on three key vision areas viz. Digital Infrastructure as a Core Utility to Every Citizen; Governance and Digital Empowerment of Citizens. He added “The Government is taking giant strides under this programme to transform the country into a digitally empowered knowledge economy”
The Inaugural Session was followed by three panel discussions during the day that discussed Current Issues of the Telecom Industry such as “NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN TELECOM SECTOR ARISING FROM BIG DATA, NEW REVOLUTION IN TELECOM SECTOR LED BY E-COMMERCE & DIGITAL WALLETS, and CALL DROP ISSUE : CHALLENGES & POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS”.
The Conference also had the benefit of Industry experts such as Mr Diwakar Natarajan, COO- Sigma OSS System ; Mr Pradeep Kumar Sampath, COO- M Rupee ; Mr Vishal Sinha, CIO- Tranzlease Holdings ; Mr AbhilashGowdara, CEO- AtomX Corporation ; Ms Kiran Bhatt, Chairman- Xebec Communications ; Mr Anil Wathare, CTO- Reliance Communications ; Mr Paresh Dasare, GM- Idea Cellular Ltd ; Mr Kousik Gupta, GM- Airtel; Mr.Rajesh Venkiteshwaran, CEO-Indus Towers and Mr Kanchan Kulkarni, Regional Head- ICICI Bank .
An audience of 50 plus corporate delegates representing 36 different companies, close to 300 academia members and media were present to hear the Experts during these day long Panel Discussions. More than 200 students from MITSOT and other concerned MIT Institutes benefited from this interactive Conference.
